Tales from the Trauma Service XII.......
One of my partner's cases. Young man falls from a bunk bed and stikes a pencil that is part of an art project. Pictures are worth a thousand words they say:
The yellow lines represent the ends of the pencil.
The point was visible beneath the skin anteriorly. The youngster was taken to the OR for exploration and luckily missed everything. The ureter, iliac artery, and colon were uninjured.
Truth is stranger than fiction.
